What you might want to know about me as a therapist

Counselling is all about connection, self-discovery and change. Having a good therapeutic relationship where anything and everything can be explored, is the foundation for that to happen. If you're curious if you and I could have that kind of relationship, here's some more about me that may help you to decide.

I have been a therapist for several years, and have worked within a variety of services, such as within NHS Talking Therapies.

My clients say they find me easy to talk to, relatable and kind. They also comment on how refreshing it is to have someone be so accepting of who they are as individuals, with having an approach tailored to them and their needs.

As a person and a therapist, I value creating a space in which you feel free to be yourself. You will find that I'm more relaxed, informal and flexible - someone who works with you, rather than talks at you. I'm also not one to bamboozle you with psychotherapy babble, which can become confusing.

People say I'm calm, patient and not easily fazed. I'm not averse to having a light-hearted moment, or to shedding a tear with you.

Whether you're looking for support with long-standing depression, anxiety, trauma, or navigating life with being part of an 'othered' community, I offer flexible counselling that fits around your life.

What's possible when we're working together?

I don't think in terms of people being 'mentally unwell', or only as a diagnosis. Instead, I see you as a whole person. I see your struggles as a normal human reaction to what life has thrown at you. Together we can work out what you need from therapy and how to get there in a way that feels realistic and manageable. Allowing for you to move from survival, into thriving.
